RYSA Travel Program – General Information
The RYSA Travel program gives kids the chance to expand their soccer experience from recreational in-house play to competitive NH Soccer League participation. For Spring 2016 we will field teams for U9 & U10 Boys Division 2, U10 Girls, U11/12 Coed, U13 Boys, and U19 High school girls and boys. If you have experience and interest in coaching, please let us know; we are always looking for more help as we expand our program.
The NHSL offers two seasons of play. Fall runs from Labor Day through Veteran’s Day. Spring runs from April through June.
In season, typically our travel teams practice two evenings a week around 5:30-7 or 6-7:30 depending on the coach.
During the off season some indoor space is used for teams to get once a week practices started as soon as January, but most will put the real push to begin twice a week practices outdoors, weather permitting, by March.
Games are either Saturday or Sunday, with the rare weekend having a game on both days. The times of games are not consistent as each host sets their own times.
Teams we play depend on the way the NHSL groups them, but usually are within an hour radius. During the regular season there are usually 8 games; 4 are played at Roger Allen, 4 are away. Should teams qualify for playoffs (U11 and older) those games are typically away also.
In the spring, our teams play in a season-end Jamboree usually around the third weekend in June.
In the fall our teams participate in at least one full weekend tournament, RYSA’s Columbus Day Tournament, which serves as a key fundraising effort to be able to use the fields at Roger Allen Park. Travel player families are required to give generously of their time to help run this 90+ team event.
Cost for league registration is $140-$165 depending on age of team. This fee covers secondary league insurance, referee fees, team registration costs, player verification, and so on. With registration we require a copy of the child’s birth certificate (for age verification by the league) and a head shot photo to be taken (if U11 or older) for player cards.
An additional $50 total covers the uniform (shorts, socks, shirt) which is usually used repeatedly from season to season. Parents are responsible to provide shin guards and cleats.
